“The Dawson family wasn't merely changing, they were broken and drifting faster and faster away from each other.”
“Not everything had to be seen to be true. The heart could know what the eyes might not recognize or understand.”
“Gifts came in many ways and forms. Some were held close, some shared, but all were to be cherished.”
This is a nice Christmas story that has a few twists along the way. I enjoy Grace Greene’s writing style and more importantly, I enjoy the setting: Emerald Isle, which is a lovely beach town. They also mention Richmond, Virginia, in which I live close by so there is some familiarity in the settings. My only complaint about this story was that the main character, Jess, wasn’t very likable throughout the story, even at the end. I felt there was a missed opportunity there. But other than that, it was a good Christmas story with a beach setting and some spiritual aspects as well.
