This is my second Dan Walsh book, having just finished "Keeping Christmas" recently. While "Keeping Christmas" was a little better from start to finish, I thought that "Remembering Christmas" had an extremely strong second half and might even resonate with me longer. What both books have in common is that there are several moments of emotional impact brought on by how well Dan Walsh brings his characters to life. For a lot of the book, I felt like Rick wasn't the most likable of characters, but obviously that was the point. Dan Walsh does a great job of gradually and realistically weaving a tale of struggles and redemption, set around the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. I loved the secondary characters and setting, though I wished we could have had a little more of Molly and Fran; their combined quirkiness could have been useful in the second act. While I found some parts predictable and also found some typos, I was very pleased with how this book turned out and would definitely recommend to someone looking for a well written and meaningful book this holiday season.
