Dani Pettrey: Killing Tide

4 Stars Out Of 5

“So this was how she was going to die.”

“My grace is sufficient for you.”

“Blood pooled like a cloud in the heightening tide of the super moon - the killing tide.”

This was a fast-paced, intense, and enjoyable read. Dani Pettrey does a great job keeping you on the edge of your seat and setting up scene after scene of suspense and peril. I really enjoyed the Coast Guard investigation aspect as well as the setting of Wilmington Beach. I almost guessed the villain in this one (so close!). And I appreciated the faith aspect in this book.

What keeps this from being a 5 star book, though, was that Dani Pettrey throws in way too many character names. This especially happens in the first few chapters where it’s just name after name to the point where it’s near impossible to keep track of who’s who. As the book went along, it was easier to track but still too many characters and names in this one. Also, the romance is to the point of being near vomit-inducing and is way over the top. I know it’s romantic suspense but sometimes less is more!
