“There are times when the evil seems so impenetrable, the wickedness so victorious, you don't even know how to hope. But then the good news bursts in, as impossible to deny as it is to believe.”
Heather Day Gilbert knocks it out of the park again with book 2 in this series. The best part of the series and Heather’s writing is that it is equal parts character driven and mystery; too often, authors focus on one over the other, but I love finding authors that balance the two perfectly. Tess Spencer is as awesome as I remember from book 1, wielding weapons and learning various ways of escape in case she is nabbed by a serial killer. Like I mentioned in Book 1, I love the real and authentic way that Tess and Thomas’ relationship is portrayed. And Thomas’ family is always an enjoyable addition. Looking forward to reading Book 3 at some point, as well as Heather Day Gilbert’s new cozy series featuring Belinda Blake.
